Yesterday, I fed my mother breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which meant I couldn\u2019t get to anything else. It left me feeling unproductive, but it reminded me of one of the biggest things I\u2019ve overcome: forgiveness.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;I \u00a0had to forgive my mother. I forgave her for not taking her high blood pressure medication on time. Something that might have prevented her stroke and eventually, her vascular dementia. I forgave her for likely not being here when I have children and for not being able to do our traditional rites when a woman gives birth. And I forgave myself for the way I\u2019d acted at times, knowing she wouldn\u2019t be there. Over the years, I realized I was carrying a lot of anger, and I finally let it go.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>This experience is why I\u2019m so passionate about speaking on health and prevention.
