Morales argued that her company had been operating under the Blue Ivy name long before Beyonc\u00e9 filed for the trademark through BGK Trademark Holdings LLC.<\/p>\n<p>However, the USPTO dismissed Morales&#8217; claims in 2020, ruling that the event planning business and Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s intended use for the name were not similar enough to cause confusion.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the earlier ruling, the trademark application was abandoned in 2020. Beyonc\u00e9 reignited her efforts in November 2023, encountering resistance from another entity\u2014a boutique in Wisconsin that also claimed ownership of the &#8220;Blue Ivy&#8221; brand.<\/p>\n<p>However, the USPTO examiner recently concluded that the boutique&#8217;s claim did not hold sufficient grounds to block Beyonc\u00e9&#8217;s filing.<\/p>\n<p>Legal documents state that any opposition to the trademark must be filed within 30 days of publication. If no objections arise by January 30, 2025, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s team will be granted a Notice of Allowance, finalizing her trademark rights.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Within 30 days of the publication date, any party who believes it will be damaged by the registration of the mark may file a notice of opposition (or extension of time) with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board,<\/em>&#8216; the document said.<\/p>\n<p>This victory marks the culmination of Beyonc\u00e9 and Jay-Z\u2019s efforts to safeguard their <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/?s=daughter\">daughter&#8217;s<\/a> <\/strong>name from commercial exploitation.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2013 <em>Vanity Fair<\/em> interview, Jay-Z explained that the couple filed the trademark to prevent others from profiting off their child\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;People wanted to make products based on our child&#8217;s name, and you don&#8217;t want anybody trying to benefit off your baby&#8217;s name,&#8217; <\/em>he said.<\/p>\n<p><em> &#8216;It wasn&#8217;t for us to do anything; as you see, we haven&#8217;t done anything,&#8217; <\/em>the rap star added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Popular American singer Beyonc\u00e9 wins a 12-year legal battle to trademark her daughter Blue Ivy&#8217;s name, securing exclusive rights after a lengthy dispute.
