{"id":203331,"date":"2025-01-12T07:18:23","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T07:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=203331"},"modified":"2025-01-12T07:18:23","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T07:18:23","slug":"mr-p-took-down-my-video-because-i-refused-to-feature-him-on-song-darkoo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/01\/12\/mr-p-took-down-my-video-because-i-refused-to-feature-him-on-song-darkoo\/","title":{"rendered":"Mr P took down my video because I refused to feature him on song \u2013 Darkoo"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Darkoo has accused Mr P for sabotaging her recently released music.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">The singer took to the microblogging platform, X to explain what transpired between herself and Peter, expressing how disappointed she is.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">Singer Oluwafisayo Isa better known as Darkoo has gone on the record to explain the role played by Peter Okoye alias Mr. P over what she claims were attempts to sabotage her new single.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On January 2, 2024, <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Darkoo<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> released a new single titled<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> &#8216;Focus On Me (All the sexy girls in the club)&#8217;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On the vibrant single which went viral on TikTok before its release, she sampled<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> P-Square<\/span><span class=\"s1\">&#8216;s hit record <\/span><span class=\"s3\">&#8216;Gimme Dat&#8217;<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> off their 2009 album <\/span><span class=\"s4\">&#8216;Danger&#8217;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The music video inspired by P-Square&#8217;s<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">video for &#8216;<\/span><span class=\"s3\">Gimme Dat&#8217; <\/span><span class=\"s1\">was released days later before it was taken down over copyright infringements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Darkoo in a post on her X account on January 11, 2025, the music video was taken down by Mr. P who is one half of the legendary but defunct P-Square group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Darkoo claimed that the 45-year-old music icon was acting out of spite because she failed to accede to his request to be featured on the single. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She said that despite promising to make him a part of the remix, Peter refused to be appeased.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In a series of posts, Darkoo claimed that she cleared the sample and even conceded 50% of the royalties to P-Square out of respect for their work and status. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The British-Nigerian star praised <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Paul Okoye aka<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">Rudeboy<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Jude Okoye <\/span><span class=\"s1\">for being supportive all through the process of clearing the sample while singling out Mr P for trying to truncate the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203333\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-203333\" style=\"width: 1242px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/IMG_8935.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-203333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/IMG_8935.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1242\" height=\"1277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/IMG_8935.jpeg 1242w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/IMG_8935-292x300.jpeg 292w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/IMG_8935-996x1024.jpeg 996w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/01\/IMG_8935-768x790.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1242px) 100vw, 1242px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-203333\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Darkoo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Darkoo pointed out that Mr P&#8217;s actions were unbecoming of a legend, especially one whom she grew up admiring. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She also confirmed that the music video is now back on YouTube. She wrote in part:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">&#8220;I WASN\u2019T GOING TO SAY ANYTHING, BUT MY MUSIC VIDEO WAS TAKEN DOWN FOR 6 DAYS BY PETER OF P-SQUARE IN AN ATTEMPT TO COMPLETELY SABOTAGE THE SONG.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">LET ME BE CLEAR: I HAD ALL THE NECESSARY CLEARANCE FOR THE SAMPLE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">&#8220;TO PUT THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE, THEY ARE RECEIVING 50%\u2026 RIGHTFULLY SO. YET, MR. PETER WANTED TO BE FEATURED ON THE SONG, EVEN CREATED HIS OWN NEW VERSE FOR IT. HE TOLD ME NOT TO SPEAK TO OR CLEAR WITH HIS BROTHERS JUDE &amp; PAUL (WHO, BY THE WAY, HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY HELPFUL IN RESOLVING ISSUES). HE CLAIMED THEY WOULD BRING \u2018UNNECESSARY PROBLEMS\u2019 FOR ME.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">&#8220;BUT AS SOON AS THE SONG DROPPED, MR PETER COMPLETELY SWITCHED ON ME. HE STARTED CAUSING PROBLEMS BECAUSE HE WANTED TO BE FEATURED ON THE TRACK. EVEN THOUGH , I WANTED HIM TO BE ON THE REMIX, BUT I GUESS THAT WASN\u2019T ENOUGH. INSTEAD, HE CHOSE TO ACT OUT OF ANGER, MANIPULATE THE SITUATION, AND TRY TO SABOTAGE THE SONG\u2026 SIMPLY BECAUSE I DIDN\u2019T BOW TO HIS DEMANDS\u2026.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cIT\u2019S HEARTBREAKING BECAUSE I GREW UP ADMIRING HIM, AND TO SEE SOMEONE I ONCE LOOKED UP TO ACTIVELY TRY TO HURT ME AND BLOCK MY SUCCESS IS INCREDIBLY PAINFUL.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">&#8220;THIS ISN\u2019T HOW OUR OGs ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MOVING.
