{"id":206818,"date":"2025-02-08T02:32:08","date_gmt":"2025-02-08T02:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=206818"},"modified":"2025-02-08T02:32:08","modified_gmt":"2025-02-08T02:32:08","slug":"ogun-govt-reacts-to-portables-alleged-assault-brands-him-unrepentant-rascal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/02\/08\/ogun-govt-reacts-to-portables-alleged-assault-brands-him-unrepentant-rascal\/","title":{"rendered":"Ogun govt reacts to Portable\u2019s alleged assault, brands him \u2018unrepentant rascal\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The Ogun state government has criticized singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for allegedly assaulting government officials.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Portable reportedly obstructed and attacked three town planners at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ota.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Authorities confirm that the singer is currently on the run.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The governor, through his Special Adviser, described Portable as a \u201cserial dissident\u201d and vowed to uphold the law.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/tag\/ogun-state\">Ogun State<\/a><\/strong> Government has strongly condemned popular street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ota.<\/p>\n<p>Portable, who is currently on the run, is accused of obstructing and attacking three town planners\u2014Ramon Lateef, Akinpelumi Oyero, and Abidemi Onabanjo\u2014while they were carrying out their official duties.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, nine of his associates\u2014Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, Precious Ohiegebo, Oluwapelumi Adeosun, Gospel Kanu, Nurudeen Warris, Adetola Alashe, Fatimo Muhammed, Ifeoluwa Babatunde, and Samuel Adeleke\u2014were arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates\u2019 Court.<\/p>\n<p>They face multiple charges, including <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/?s=assault\">assault<\/a><\/strong>, armed violence, obstruction of government officials, and conduct likely to cause public unrest. The court set their bail at N5 million each.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_206819\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-206819\" style=\"width: 564px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-206819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/02\/Screenshot-2025-02-08-032349.png\" alt=\"Ogun Govt condemns Portable over alleged assault on state officials\" width=\"564\" height=\"651\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/02\/Screenshot-2025-02-08-032349.png 364w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/02\/Screenshot-2025-02-08-032349-260x300.png 260w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 564px) 100vw, 564px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-206819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Portable.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Reacting to the situation, Governor Dapo Abiodun, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, described Portable as a \u201cserial dissident\u201d known for repeatedly attacking government officials.<\/p>\n<p>The governor reaffirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to upholding law and order, stressing that such behavior would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are profoundly taken aback by the unpleasant and uncivil act of the hip-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Wednesday, in the Iyana Ilogbo area of the state where his bar is located,\u201d <\/em>the statement read.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe way in which Portable and some miscreants he employed in the dastardly act attacked the officials of the OGPDPA is not only bizarre but a confirmation of the erosion of Omoluabi ethos in those individuals and indeed a great disgrace to the state.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Governor Dapo Abiodun totally condemned this primitive and indecent act and reiterated his avowed commitment to a just and egalitarian society as he is ready to make any individual flouting the extant law of the land face the full wrath of the law irrespective of social status and influence,\u201d<\/em> the statement concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have urged Portable to surrender as investigations continue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ogun state government has criticized singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for allegedly assaulting government officials.
