{"id":208360,"date":"2025-02-20T12:44:46","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T12:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=208360"},"modified":"2025-02-20T12:44:46","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T12:44:46","slug":"ogun-court-grants-portable-n2m-bail-adjourns-case-till-march-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/02\/20\/ogun-court-grants-portable-n2m-bail-adjourns-case-till-march-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Ogun court grants Portable N2m bail, adjourns case till March 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Portable on Thursday, February 20 was arraigned at the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">This comes a day after he turned himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, following a declaration by the Ogun State Police Command that he was wanted.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">The singer was transferred to Ogun Police headquarters on same day and subsequently arraigned on a five-count charge. <\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">The court granted Portable bail in the amount of N2 million with one surety in like sum after he pled not guilty.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Magistrate O.L Oke of an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Thursday, February 20 granted controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable bail to the tune of N2million and a surety in like sum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Portable is facing a five-count charge for conspiracy, assault, possession of cutlass, guns to cause injury, and conducting himself in an unruly manner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Portable was charged to court by the Ogun State police command for allegedly assaulting three officials from the Ogun Planning and Development Permit Authority, OGPDPA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The singer went into hiding after the Ogun State Police Command arrested and arraigned his 9 prot\u00e9g\u00e9s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The suspects, Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, 19; Precious Ohiegebo, 19; Oluwapelumi Adeosun, 20; Gospel Kanu, 20; Nurudeen Warris, 21; Adetola Alashe, 25; Fatimo Muhammed, 26; Ifeoluwa Babatunde, 27; and Samuel Adeleke, 28, were arraigned on a five-count charge of armed violence with cutlasses and guns, felony, obstruction, assault, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and intent to kill.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Appearing before the court, the 31-year old Zazoo crooner was seen shaking and shedding tears. The court stood down for 30 minutes as the State Government took over the matter from the Commissioner of Police.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The defense counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, prayed the court to grant him bail as the defendant is still presumed innocent until proven contrary by the court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Ayodele assured the court that the defendant would not jump bail and would stand trial. Her words:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cMy Lord, I pray that you exercise patience on Habeeb Okikiola by granting him bail. This bail is for him to properly stand his trial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cHe is still innocent until the court proves otherwise. I promise that he will appear before his trial. My Lord, I promise that he will not miss any court appearance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Magistrate O.L Oke warned that the defendant must for no reason appear on social media to discuss anything pertaining to the court or cause mayhem to anyone. Magistrate Oke said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cIf you leave this court room and for any reason go to any social media platform to say anything about the court, you will lose your bail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cIf you leave and go foment trouble or problem with anybody, you will lose that bail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cIf you miss any court appearances or arrive late, you will lose your bail\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">When the court asked if he is mentally alright or should be sent to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/02\/19\/police-rejects-portables-madman-claim-insists-singer-remains-wanted\/\">psychiatric home,<\/a> Portable replied that he is alright and healthy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The case was, however, adjourned to March 5th.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Portable on Thursday, February 20 was arraigned at the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
