Kcee would later house him for four years.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Music executive Soso Soberekon has revealed how Iyanya was discovered by Kcee, years ago in Calabar, Cross River State and how the Limpopo singer played a key role in the Kukere master\u2019s journey to stardom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Soberekon, a former music producer and KCee\u2019s ex-manager made this revelation during a live chat with media personality Daddy Freeze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the conversation, he also put KCee on a phone call to confirm the story.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_200674\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-200674\" style=\"width: 495px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/12\/IMG_8044.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-200674\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/12\/IMG_8044.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"495\" height=\"619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/12\/IMG_8044.jpeg 495w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/12\/IMG_8044-240x300.jpeg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-200674\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kcee<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Soberekon, Iyanya was hosting a karaoke show in Calabar when KCee spotted him, walked up to him, and offered to take him to Lagos to pursue his music career. KCee recalled: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe had to meet his parents for approval before he could travel with us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We were already at the airport when he called to say his parents had finally agreed because they initially refused.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Soberekon further disclosed that after winning Project Fame West Africa in 2008, Iyanya lived in KCee\u2019s house for four years, sleeping on the couch due to limited space. He explained:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHe slept on the couch for four years because there was no extra room at the time. KCee\u2019s family was living in the house, so the only available space was the couch, he wrote two songs for Kcee Presh then and both were produced by me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22465\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22465\" style=\"width: 684px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/09\/kunlenet07\/2021\/09\/02\/Iyanya.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22465 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/09\/kunlenet07\/2021\/09\/02\/Iyanya.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"684\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/09\/kunlenet07\/2021\/09\/02\/Iyanya.jpg 684w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/09\/kunlenet07\/2021\/09\/02\/Iyanya-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/09\/kunlenet07\/2021\/09\/02\/Iyanya-350x250.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/09\/kunlenet07\/2021\/09\/02\/Iyanya-120x86.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22465\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Iyanya<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Iyanya would later rise to fame with a monster hit, \u2018Kukere,\u2019 and become one of Nigeria\u2019s most recognized music stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 2023, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/06\/16\/kcee-bought-me-my-first-ticket-from-calabar-to-lagos-housed-me-iyanya-video\/\">lyanya Onoyom Mbuk, simply known as lyanya told a similar rise to fame story, crediting KCee for helping him. <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Although he didn\u2019t reveal the year it happened, Iyanya disclosed KCee bought him his first flight ticket from Calabar to Lagos. He added that the Ojapiano crooner housed him for two whole years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Iyanya made the disclosure in an interview on Naija FM 102.7, Lagos. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/06\/16\/kcee-bought-me-my-first-ticket-from-calabar-to-lagos-housed-me-iyanya-video\/\"><strong>The Kukere hitmaker also stated that Kcee was a better dancer than him. <\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Soso Soberekon has shared Iyanya\u2019s pre-fame journey.
