{"id":209468,"date":"2025-03-01T10:49:20","date_gmt":"2025-03-01T10:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=209468"},"modified":"2025-03-01T10:49:20","modified_gmt":"2025-03-01T10:49:20","slug":"peter-okoye-not-responsible-for-judes-legal-woes-management-counters-pauls-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/03\/01\/peter-okoye-not-responsible-for-judes-legal-woes-management-counters-pauls-claim\/","title":{"rendered":"Peter Okoye not responsible for Jude&#8217;s legal woes \u2013 Management counters Paul\u2019s claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Peter Okoye has finally addressed claims that he is responsible for his elder brother\u2019s legal troubles. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">His twin brother, Paul had made the accusations in the court premises on Friday, while addressing the press. <\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Responding through his management, Peter denied any involvement in the matter, clarifying the charges.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The management of Peter Okoye, one half of the disbanded music group P-Square, has denied claims by his brother, Paul Okoye, that their client is behind older brother and former manager Jude Okoye\u2019s legal troubles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Recall that Paul, while addressing the press on Friday, blamed his twin brother Peter for putting Jude in his current predicament.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Jude is facing an alleged N1.38 billion fraud by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/02\/28\/jude-okoye-returns-to-prison-as-court-sets-march-3-for-bail-hearing-amid-n1-3bn-fraud-charges\/\">remanded in prison by the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday until his bail hearing in March.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">However, speaking at Friday\u2019s arraignment, Paul named Peter as the person who should be blamed for what their older brother is going through. He said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt is not about supporting him because I know the truth. And the truth is, unfortunately, the way the journalists are making it look like he is a fraud. Let\u2019s call a spade a spade, Peter is the one putting Jude to this thing, simple. It is Peter that is doing this, putting him in prison, and I\u2019m here to bring him out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Responding to this allegation, Peter, through his manager, Emem Kush, denied Peter\u2019s involvement in Jude\u2019s legal troubles. Emem Kush said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI don\u2019t know who Peter is on this issue. And I don\u2019t think he has any comment on this issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe case is between the EFCC, based on their investigation, and Jude Okoye. I don\u2019t see how Peter Okoye has anything to do with it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe have no comment on this matter. Peter didn\u2019t drag anybody to the EFCC. The petition was against the company that has been receiving funds on his behalf. And he knew nothing about it. Don\u2019t mix up issues, and let\u2019s not create issues where they are not.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking after she was asked if there were any conditions tied to the case, Emem added:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201dThe EFCC was the one that received all of this, so I think it\u2019s best to speak to them to know the facts of the case and their findings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI don\u2019t represent the EFCC. I\u2019m not a spokesman for the EFCC. I\u2019m not a spokesman for either party, so I can\u2019t tell you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Okoye brothers started feuding in 2015 when the public became aware of discord within the P-Square duo. In 2017 the duo began pursuing solo careers but came back together in 2022 to collaborate on Jaiye and Find Somebody. They also performed together publicly in the same year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But in August 2024, everything came crashing down with the duo as Paul confirmed their split during an interview on City FM radio. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the interview, Paul accused Peter of petitioning both him and Jude to the EFCC, leading to their invitation for questioning by the anti-graft agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Peter responded by denying Paul\u2019s claim but insisted that his petition was intended to expose the betrayal he suffered from Jude and his wife, Ifeoma.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peter Okoye has finally addressed claims that he is responsible for his elder brother\u2019s legal troubles. \u00a0\u00a0 His twin brother, Paul had made the accusations in the court premises on Friday, while addressing the press.
