Read on to catch-up on ten highest-grossing Nollywood films in 2025, in no particular order.<\/p>\n

    \"\"Muyiwa Ademola\u2019s Ori: Rebirth takes first place on this list after emerging as the highest-grossing film in advance screenings in Nigeria, raking in N19.3 million across 38 cinemas within 24 hours.<\/p>\n

    The advance screening performance of Ori: Rebirth mirrors the impact of its predecessor, Ori, which was released in 2003 and became a Yoruba movie classic.<\/p>\n

    The new installment continues the legacy, delving deeper into themes of destiny, culture and redemption.\"\"<\/p>\n

    The film follows a man, Bisade who embarks on a spiritual journey to rediscover his purpose after a series of personal and societal challenges threaten to consume him.<\/p>\n

    Bisade is marked for sacrifice, another is destined to save him from the sacrificial altar, and a third person, alongside his evil cult, is determined to go through with the sacrifice.<\/p>\n

    Released on April 26, Ori: Rebirth stars Muyiwa Ademola in the lead role alongside star-studded appearances from Toyin Abraham, Lateef Adedimeji, Sola Sobowale, Yinka Quadri, Omowunmi Dada and Ibrahim Chatta.\"\"Ori: Rebirth<\/a> which is currently showing in cinemas nationwide, has raked in \u20a6262 million within 3 weeks since its release.<\/p>\n

      \"\"Coming in a hot second is Reel Love, a 2025 Nigerian romance film produced by Timini Egbuson and directed by Kayode Kasum. The film being a romance and love-themed movie was released to the Nigerian cinema on February 14, 2025 to commemorate the Valentine’s Day celebration.<\/p>\n

      It stars Timini Egbuson, Funke Akindele, Bimbo Ademoye, Shaffy Bello, Efa Iwara, Dakore Akande, Lilian Afegbai, Muyiwa Ademola, and others.<\/p>\n

      Reel Love which is Timini Egbuson’s debut production also focuses on the modern-day impact of social media on love and relationships in general.<\/p>\n

      It tells the story of Tomide, a popular relationship influencer who gets entangled with Rachel when a video of them in a heated argument goes viral, the impact of this video will cause damage and backlash to both individuals. In a bid to mitigate the situation, Tomide’s girlfriend, Imani advises that Tomide stage a fake romantic relationship with Rachel. After several persuasion, Rachel and Tomide reluctantly agrees to the deal, which was a huge success for both of them as they grew their social media presence and bagged different deals.<\/p>\n

      The event turns against them, when Rachel begins to fall in love with Tomide, on the other hand, Tomide starts growing affection for Rachel. Meanwhile, Tomide’s girlfriend, Imani becomes suspicious of the growing affection between Tomide and Rachel. In a bid to end the growing relationship, Imani leaks Tomide’s deep secret to a whistleblower leading to more drama. \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

      The romantic drama has officially grossed a staggering \u20a6355 million, holding the title of the highest-grossing Nollywood film for five consecutive weeks.<\/p>\n

        \"\"Labake Olododo is an epic film produced by Iyabo Ojo and directed by Biodun Stephen. The film was released in Nigerian cinemas on March 28, 2025. The flick stars Iyabo Ojo, Femi Adebayo, Faithia Williams, Kunle Afolayan, Odunlade Adekola, Mercy Aigbe, Scarlet Gomez, Tayo Faniran, Rotimi Fakunle, Omowunmi Ajiboye, Olumide Oworu and Mr Macaroni.<\/p>\n

        Shot in Ibadan, it is set against the Yoruba cultural heritage and tells the story of a heroine, Labake, who through her fearless nature fights against injustice within the community amidst societal pressure.<\/p>\n

        The story explores the complexities of traditional expectations, showing how Labake was able to rise against oppression in her community. Her desire and courageous nature towards fighting for justice lands her in betrayal and in the web of political scheme.<\/p>\n

        Upon its debut, Labake Olododo recorded an impressive opening weekend gross of \u20a6113.54 million, launching it to the number-one spot at the Nigerian box office. Released in 65 cinemas nationwide, the film earned \u20a611.15 million on its first day, \u20a611.20 million on day two, and \u20a628.32 million on day three, culminating in a weekend total of \u20a650.68 million.\"\"<\/p>\n

        The momentum continued into the week, with the film grossing \u20a629.26 million on day four, \u20a619.23 million on day five, \u20a67.01 million on day six, and \u20a67.34 million on day seven. These strong numbers firmly positioned the title as the top-grossing film of the week, with a cumulative opening figure of \u20a6113.54 million.<\/p>\n

        Labake Olododo as of May 19 has garnered \u20a6262.6 million<\/p>\n

            Even before its Easter weekend release, Owambe Thieves was seen as a strong contender at the box office, alongside fellow Nigerian titles Makemation and Aso Ebi Diaries. All three films premiered on the same day. By the end of the weekend, Owambe Thieves had earned \u20a654 million, adding another \u20a622 million on Easter Monday, bringing its total holiday gross to an impressive \u20a676 million, despite stiff competition.\"\"<\/p>\n

            The movie has raked in about \u20a6180 million as at Monday, May 12, with hopes of going above and beyond in coming days, following its debut in the UK.<\/p>\n

              Released on February 7, the romantic drama features an ensemble cast, including Kalu-Anaga Emmanuel, Kayode Jnr Ojuolape, Tina Mba, Genoveva Umeh, Michael O. Ejoor, Bolaji Ogunmola, Lateef Adedimeji, Daniel Etim-Effiong, and more.<\/p>\n

              Directed by Adenike Adebayo-Esho and written by Owumi Ugbeye, Summer Rain made an impressive debut at the Nigerian box office, grossing \u20a618 million within its first three days in cinemas.\"\"<\/p>\n

                  \"\"Something About the Briggs” is the first 2025 Nollywood movie to be released across all cinemas nationwide. It premiered in Nigerian cinemas on January 31, 2025, and has received positive reviews for its storytelling and performances.<\/p>\n

                  It was produced, directed, and written by Bukola Ogunsola. The movie explores the themes of love, marriage, and forgiveness, focusing on the dysfunctional family of the Briggs, who grapple with marital and relationship issues.<\/p>\n

                  The film follows a young woman named Sophie who is hesitant to marry due to her family’s history of unhappy marriages.                       The movie centres around King Ensa\u2019s fateful choices as he turns against his people. His mother faces an impossible choice, either to remain loyal to her son or alter his destiny for the greater good. With this, the fate of the kingdom hangs in a balance.<\/p>\n

                      It was directed by Uduak Obong Patrick and produced by the 7eventh Studio and Fit Ofili Films with cinematography by Jonathan Kovel.<\/p>\n

                      The flick stars Daniel Etim Effiong, Shaffy Bello, Uche Montana, Segun Arinze, Uzor Arukwe, Gideon Okeke, Jenny Stead, and Jude Chukwuka.<\/p>\n
