This sparked criticism and accusations of exploitation. Many viewers believed the late singer\u2019s father had started acting and was being used in a movie to cash in on his son\u2019s tragic death. Others claimed Ayo Olaiya was working on a movie on Mohbad. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But in a public statement shared on Instagram, Ayo Olaiya set the record straight, saying he never featured Mohbad\u2019s father in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/05\/22\/ori-reel-love-labake-olododo-other-highest-grossing-nigerian-films-2025-so-far\/\">any film and never planned to shoot a movie based on the<\/a> singer\u2019s story. Olaiya wrote: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI am an actor and a filmmaker. I have never claimed to be a human right activist. Contrary to the lies going round, I never planned to use Mohbad&#8217;s story for a movie and I have not featured Mohbad&#8217;s dad in any of my movies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He explained that he and his crew were filming near Mohbad\u2019s father\u2019s residence in Ikorodu when the older man happened to drive by. One of the crew members recognized him and called out his name, prompting him to come over and greet them.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_213686\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-213686\" style=\"width: 1242px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-213686\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/IMG_7448.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1242\" height=\"1441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/IMG_7448.jpeg 1242w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/IMG_7448-259x300.jpeg 259w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/IMG_7448-883x1024.jpeg 883w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/IMG_7448-768x891.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1242px) 100vw, 1242px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-213686\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ayo Olaiya<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Olaiya, Mohbad\u2019s dad only stopped briefly to exchange pleasantries and take pictures, and that was it. He continued:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe man alighted from his car to greet us and take pictures. That\u2019s what happened, nothing more.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ayo also advised fans and critics alike to be careful with spreading unverified information, especially when emotions are involved. He warned:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAlways take your time to verify things before jumping into conclusions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Olaiya\u2019s post was accompanied by a strong message of gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support and a tribute to the late Mohbad. He concluded:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTo my fans, I love you all for your unflinching love and support. Many thanks for your concern. God bless you all.
