He noticed KP\u2019s name in the credits and was inspired by his work. Later, he learned that Peters had humbly credited \u201cEl-Shaddai\u201d as the executive producer instead of himself, a sign, Bovi says, of his deep gratitude to God.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_215283\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-215283\" style=\"width: 1242px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-215283\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9974.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1242\" height=\"1445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9974.jpeg 1242w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9974-258x300.jpeg 258w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9974-880x1024.jpeg 880w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9974-768x894.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1242px) 100vw, 1242px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-215283\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bovi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Inspired, Bovi decided to create his own sitcom, Extended Family, and even avoided putting his own name as executive producer, following KP\u2019s example. But their first interaction was less than smooth. Bovi revealed:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI was a fan and wanted to meet him for tips. I called him and he said he was busy on set. I pressed for a lunch break meeting, but he never got back. I felt slighted and carried an artificial grudge.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That grudge faded in 2008 when mutual acquaintance Joy Elumelu spoke highly of KP and reassured Bovi that he wasn\u2019t the type to intentionally snub people. The following year, fate brought them together at Peters\u2019 Friday Night Laughs comedy club.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_215207\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-215207\" style=\"width: 1242px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-215207\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9836.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1242\" height=\"1201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9836.jpeg 1242w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9836-300x290.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9836-1024x990.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/IMG_9836-768x743.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1242px) 100vw, 1242px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-215207\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Late Kayode Peters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When some of the scheduled acts arrived late, KP\u2019s team asked Bovi to fill in. Initially hesitant because he had been made to pay for his guests\u2019 tickets, he eventually agreed and \u201cripped the crowd.\u201d After the show, KP shook his hand, thanked him, and apologized for their earlier phone exchange. That marked the beginning of their friendship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bovi went on to test new material at KP\u2019s club every month, promising never to repeat the same jokes. They later became football teammates, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/02\/05\/why-my-kids-relocated-to-the-uk-bovi\/\">Bovi<\/a> saw KP\u2019s gentle, forgiving nature firsthand. The comedian also shared one memorable moment when KP ran into the shower area, football boots still on, to ensure Bovi and another teammate weren\u2019t fighting again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Their bond extended beyond work, according to Bovi. He attended KP\u2019s wedding and his children\u2019s naming ceremonies, and the two often hung out to play football or video games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reflecting on KP\u2019s passing, Bovi expressed gratitude for having told him in person how much he had influenced his career:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt didn\u2019t take much. It was in the little things. KP was an influencer. I\u2019m sad he left too soon, but I\u2019m grateful for all he gave the world including me.
