Eyewitnesses allege that the drama started when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2025\/07\/14\/kwam-1-eulogizes-late-awujale-of-ijebuland-amid-talks-of-him-being-considered-for-the-throne\/\">KWAM 1<\/a> was stopped from boarding with a mystery flask, which he claimed contained \u201cmedicine,\u201d but was suspected to be alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>Flight officials reportedly demanded he surrender the item in line with safety protocols, but K1 allegedly refused, sparking a tense standoff. As the scene unfolded, flight crew tried to deboard him, but the veteran singer reportedly broke ranks and walked defiantly toward the aircraft\u2019s nose\u2014just as the plane prepared for takeoff.<\/p>\n<p>The most shocking moment came when the ValueJet flight VK 201 allegedly moved with KWAM 1 and ground crew still dangerously close to the aircraft, forcing him and some personnel to duck to avoid being hit by the wings. The pilot\u2019s action, seen as reckless by many, triggered major safety concerns and online outrage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEE VIDEO BELOW\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 352px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-215458-1\" width=\"352\" height=\"624\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/facebook_video_1754508304518.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/facebook_video_1754508304518.mp4\">https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/08\/facebook_video_1754508304518.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>In response to the escalating controversy, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) issued an official statement on Wednesday, August 6, confirming KWAM 1 as the passenger involved in the breach.<\/p>\n<p>According to Obiageli Orah, FAAN\u2019s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, preliminary investigations revealed that the substance in KWAM 1\u2019s flask was alcohol, and his actions violated international aviation regulations, including Nigeria\u2019s National Civil Aviation Security Programme and ICAO\u2019s Annex 17.<\/p>\n<p>The statement further alleged that the singer spilled the flask\u2019s contents on a security officer during the confrontation and resisted instructions from both AVSEC and the flight captain.<\/p>\n<p>KWAM 1 was later escorted away by airport security for questioning and released, as investigations continue. FAAN vowed to hold all parties accountable, stressing that aviation safety rules must apply equally\u2014regardless of social status.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the issue in the statement on Wednesday, Orah said: \u201c<strong>The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to formally address the incident that occurred on Monday, 5th August 2025, at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The incident involved a notable Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (also known as K1 De Ultimate), and a pilot of ValueJet Airlines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPreliminary investigations confirmed that the passenger was scheduled to board the morning flight to Lagos operated by ValueJet Airlines (Flight VK 201). During boarding, the passenger attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIn accordance with international aviation security standards\u2014specifically, Nigeria\u2019s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17\u2014liquids exceeding 100ml are not permitted through security screening unless medically necessary and properly declared. The passenger was informed of this regulation but reportedly declined to comply.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAs boarding continued, an airline security officer asked the passenger to step aside for further clarification. The passenger allegedly refused and spilled the contents of the flask on the officer, which turned out to be alcohol. The Flight Captain intervened but faced similar resistance. After confirming that boarding was complete, she instructed the closure of the aircraft door.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAt this juncture, the passenger moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to leave the area despite repeated requests. He was ultimately escorted away by AVSEC crime unit for further investigation, after which he was released.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cFAAN reiterates its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all passengers, crew, and airport personnel.
