Nigerian singer and songwriter <\/span>Chike-Ezekpeazu Osebuka<\/span>, popularly known as <\/span>Chike<\/span>, has stirred conversation online after declaring that he has no plans to get married, describing the institution as \u201ca stupid step.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The 32-year-old music star made the comment during a candid sit-down with media personality <\/span>Chude Jideonwo<\/span>, where he opened up about his personal views on relationships, happiness, and his journey in the entertainment industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn my personal opinion, in fact, I think it\u2019s a stupid step to get married, that\u2019s my opinion<\/em>,\u201d Chike said, stressing that marriage is not a priority for him at this stage of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The singer, who is best known for his soulful love songs, added that his sense of fulfillment is tied more to financial security than to traditional milestones like marriage. He admitted:<\/span><\/p>\n

Reflecting on his career during the interview, Chike recalled that he only decided to pursue music professionally after completing his university education. He said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI would say right after my university, I knew music is what I\u2019ll do for a living. I won\u2019t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Chike\u2019s remarks have surprised many fans who often see him as one of Nigeria\u2019s most romantic singers, with hits like <\/span>\u2018Boo of the Booless\u2019<\/em><\/span> and <\/span>\u2018Running (To You)\u2019<\/span><\/em>. Yet, this is not the first time he has given unusual takes on love and relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in 2022, the singer revealed that he has never actually said the words <\/a><\/span>\u201cI love you<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/span> to anyone. He explained that the phrase makes him feel extremely vulnerable.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI get that feeling that if I say it, my bolz would shrink and disappear,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> he joked at the time, adding that he is grateful he can instead express such emotions through his music.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chike\u2019s official entry into the music scene began in 2015 when he participated in <\/span>Project Fame<\/span><\/em>.<\/em> He later gained national attention as the first runner-up on <\/span>The Voice of Nigeria<\/span><\/em> in 2016, where his vocal prowess won him a loyal fanbase.
