Acting was never part of her original plan. Many people know her as Iya Rainbow, but not everyone knows how the name came to be. The name \u201cRainbow\u201d came from her late husband’s group. It was called Osumare theatre group, meaning Rainbow theatre group. While on a movie set one day, the name was coined. She said in an interview:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOne day, I went to act with some white men and in the course of acting, someone asked for the meaning of Osumare and I replied: rainbow. Then he said I should henceforth be called Iya Rainbow and that was it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI had the intention of remarrying after I lost my husband, there was even a time a man visited me in my house when we were all eating with my children and some other youths that stayed with me. He had to ask me if all the youths in my house were my children, I replied him in the affirmative.<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to my reply, he asked me a rhetorical question that insinuated he was overwhelmed with the number of children he would have to cater for if he married me. After that time, I never saw him again. After this incident, I never thought of getting married again because I was no longer interested because most of them are liars.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

9. She remains active and vibrant at 83<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
