Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian dancehall musician, and three others have been detained in police detention for one week after pleading ‘not guilty’ to a charge of disseminating false information in the aftermath of reports that the singer was shot.<\/p>\n

Several internet reports on Monday claimed that the reggae musician was shot in East Legon, Ghana. Nana Dope, the artist’s spokeswoman, said that the singer is alive and has been transported to a hospital’s emergency room.<\/p>\n

The Ghanaian Police however arrested him on Tuesday October 19<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Tuesday, the police said the singer who turned himself in, was arrested to assist the police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old and his alleged accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator pleaded not guilty to the charges of publication of false news and causing fear and panic, after being arraigned in court on Thursday, October 21.<\/p>\n
