The festival, colloquially known as BUFF, is now in its 17th year and will show high quality feature films, documentaries and shorts. Founded by Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe, BUFF continues to be a bellwether for showcasing emerging talent who go onto achieve mainstream success.<\/p>\n
Cherish Oteka \u2013 who directed the BAFTA-winning short film \u2018The Black Cop\u2019 – has previously had one of her films (\u2018A Manner of Speaking\u2019) play at BUFF and has even worked at the festival as an intern. Kate Herron – who directed and executive produced the first season of the Disney+ series \u2018Loki\u2019\u2013 had her film \u2018Five By Five\u2019 (produced by Idris Elba) shown by the festival. Last year\u2019s edition selected and screened \u2018Honeymoon\u2019 \u2013 directed by Amy Aniobi (head writer of HBO\u2019s \u2018Insecure\u2019) and also \u2018Ala Kachuu – Take and Run\u2019 (directed by Maria Brendle) which is contention for an Academy award this year for best live action short.<\/p>\n
Also returning will be The Live Script Readings which in previous years has been won by Isis Davis (\u2018Killing Eve\u2019), Jo Southwell (\u2018Doctors\u2019) and Adriel Leff (\u2018Moving On\u2019).<\/p>\n
BUFF 2022 will host 6 days of screenings with films from across the globe, including many European, UK and London premieres.<\/p>\n
Festival dates run from November 25 to 30, with screenings at Rich Mix in Shoreditch.<\/p>\n
The film festival awards will also be hosted at Rich Mix on December 1, succeeding Peckhamplex which hosted last year\u2019s ceremony in-person.<\/p>\n
