Music mogul, JAY-Z, has opened on how he coped with his family and stayed productive during quarantine.<\/p>\n

Recall that few months ago,\u00a0 Jay-Z<\/a> launched his own cannabis brand, sold half of his champagne brand Armand de Brignac to LVMH Mo\u00ebt Hennessy Louis Vuitton and sold a majority ownership stake in TIDAL to Square, Inc.<\/p>\n

In a rare interview with The Sunday Times to promote his partnership with Puma as creative director, Jay-Z, 51, discussed his life in lockdown with Beyonc\u00e9 and their three children.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the beginning it was time for everyone to sit down and really connect, and really focus on family and being together, and take this time to learn more about each other,\u201d says JAY-Z.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then, as it wore on, it\u2019s like, \u2018OK, all right, what is the new normal?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anything came from this,\u201d Jay says of the pandemic, \u201cit\u2019s that we have to recognize that we\u2019re all connected. It\u2019s a metaphor for how connected we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also revealed he has no plans to tour in the near future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not planning it, but I\u2019m definitely missing it,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

During the zoom call interview, Jay takes a moment to acknowledge his youngest daughter off camera. \u201cHiii, beautiful!\u201d he says while blowing kisses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s my youngest daughter, Rumi.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his many businesses Jay-Z says family remains his \u201cfoundation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFeeling loved is the most important thing a child needs, you know? Not \u2018Here\u2019s this business that I\u2019m going to hand over to you, that I\u2019m creating for you,’\u201d says JAY-Z.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat if my child doesn\u2019t want to be in music or sports? I have no idea, right? But as long as your child feels supported, and feels loved, I think anything is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cJust make sure we provide a loving environment, be very attentive to who they want to be. It\u2019s easy for us, as human beings, to want our children to do certain things, but we have no idea. We\u2019re just guides.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the trial of Derek Chauvin for George Floyd\u2019s murder, Jay-Z says says there\u2019s still a long way to go but acknowledges that progress has been made.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a human race we\u2019re still on basic things. We\u2019re still on Stop Asian Hate. We can\u2019t sit and cry over spilt milk, but we do have to acknowledge that there\u2019s milk, right?\u201d he says, adding, \u201cAre we here today? No. Are we further than 50 years ago? Yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although he rarely uses social media, Jayz says its necessary for today\u2019s stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t give someone a microphone for 24 hours a day and [have them] not think they have to use it!\u201d he says. \u201cThese kids, it\u2019s unbelievable. Imagine having a microphone and you\u2019re asked about social justice questions at 18 years old?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s like, \u2018What? I\u2019m meant to know the answer, and if I don\u2019t answer the correct way, if I don\u2019t say everything right, even if my intentions are right, and I don\u2019t say the same right thing, it\u2019s going to be everywhere.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about how he’ll like to be remembered Jay Z said;. \u201cI have no idea,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not beyond ego, right? Hopefully they speak of me [with] the names of Bob Marley and all the greats. But that\u2019s not for me to say.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked what he\u2019s most proud of, he responds, \u201cI\u2019m most proud of overcoming my circumstances and providing opportunity for people who look like me and who came from the same situation that I\u2019ve come from.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
