{"id":92872,"date":"2022-08-16T11:17:53","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T11:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=92872"},"modified":"2022-08-16T11:17:53","modified_gmt":"2022-08-16T11:17:53","slug":"late-veteran-victor-uwaifos-manager-charged-to-court-over-alleged-forgery-of-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2022\/08\/16\/late-veteran-victor-uwaifos-manager-charged-to-court-over-alleged-forgery-of-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Late veteran Victor Uwaifo\u2019s manager charged to court over alleged forgery of will"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><em>The Guitar Boy might be turning restlessly in his grave over some of the issues in his family, barely one year after his death.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Chris Eburu, manager of the late veteran musician Victor Uwaifo, has been charged to court over an alleged forgery of the latter\u2019s will, the singer\u2019s family announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The family made this known while distancing itself from alleged plans by Chris to raise funds for the one-year anniversary of the singer\u2019s death.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking to journalists in Benin, Edo State, the family members including the deceased\u2019s eldest child, Ogbomwen Reden, his son Goodman Uwaifo also accused Chris of using a name linked to their father to deceive the public into participating in the program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Mrs Reden alleged that the manager altered her late father\u2019s will and brought in witnesses believed to be unknown to her father to sign as witnesses in the will. She said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe witnesses are not the kind of persons my late father would associate with. My father cannot have an unmarried woman sign his will. My father was a very hardworking man till he died and I will not allow anybody to reap what he has laboured for. I am fighting for my father\u2019s legacy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reacting to the accusations, Chris said the issue of forgery was a matter already before the court and he would not comment on it. Addressing the fundraiser allegation, he said Uwaifo\u2019s Revelation Tourism Palazzo Centre is an association and does not need the approval of the children of the late singer before it could carry out any anniversary ceremony for its late member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Chris also insisted that the consent of the family was asked before plans for the anniversary were carried out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Fondly called the guitar boy, Uwaifo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2021\/08\/28\/breaking-veteran-musician-victor-uwaifo-is-dead\/\">died<\/a> at 80 on August 28, 2011 at the Edo government-owned Stella Obasanjo Specialist Hospital, Sapele Road, Benin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2021\/09\/02\/family-announce-funeral-arrangements-for-sir-victor-uwaifo\/\">buried<\/a> on October 15, in his palatial residence at Victor Uwaifo Avenue off College\/Ekenwan Road, Benin, Edo State.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Guitar Boy might be turning restlessly in his grave over some of the issues in his family, barely one year after his death.
