Rising musician Buju, also known as BNXN, says he is not in support of violence or abuse against the police in his recent post on social media.<\/h4>\n

The singer noted this while clarifying his now-deleted tweet about spitting in the face of a police officer during a confrontation. \u201cSpat in a police officer\u2019s face and it felt so good,\u201d he wrote on Twitter after a video of him having an altercation with men of the Nigeria Police went viral online.<\/p>\n

Nigerian Police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, however, said BNXN would be prosecuted<\/a> for his action, while the officers in the viral video would also be made to face justice.<\/p>\n

To clarify the \u201cSpat in a police officer\u2019s face,\u201d tweet, BNXN said that it was an idiomatic expression, meaning he disrespected the police officer, not the precise interpretation conveyed by some people on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy since deleted tweet stating that I spat in a police officers face was an idiomatic expression to say I disrespected a police officer to his face and not the literal way people may have taken it on social media. I do not support violence or abuse against the police in any form,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

BNXN added he was more interested in focusing on his music career after explaining his fracas to the Police officers. \u201cYesterday I was in a life threatening situation which caused me to lash out due to the physical assault on me by some policemen who have now been brought to book. however, I just want to focus on what\u2019s important to me, my music. Thank you for all the love and concern \u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

He stressed that the now-deleted tweet should not be taken seriously. \u201cI stood on my right as a responsible Nigerian, despite the violence against my person and I do not want my deleted tweet to be taken seriously. I appreciate the swift intervention of some reputable police officers on this matter too. Love\u2764\ufe0f\u201d<\/p>\n
