Burgeoning Nigerian talent Charles Chibuezechukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has disclosed he wrote Joint Admission and Matriculation (JAMB)\u2019s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) five times and played football before delving into music.<\/h4>\n

Speaking with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbin\u2019 Minds, the Mavin Records artiste revealed his struggles with life before he got signed to Africa\u2019s biggest record label, Mavin Records, headed by renowned entertainer and music executive Don Jazzy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started making music like 2016 officially. I wasn\u2019t in school then but trying to get into the university. I wrote [sic] JAMB five times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the first two times, I failed; the rest three times, I passed. I kept going to the school to lay complaints and ask: \u2018What\u2019s up?\u2019 It (gaining admission) wasn\u2019t just happening for me,\u201d he noted during the show. \u201cI feel like it was God\u2019s way of redirecting me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEven before I started making music, I used to be a footballer. I like football a lot \u2013 I used to play football, go to training, academies, and stuff like that,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n

The ‘Ijo Laba Laba’ crooner<\/a> explained he got signed to Mavin Records after he was invited to the music company\u2019s headquarters by Baby Fresh, who had listened to one of his songs on the radio and loved it.<\/p>\n

Crayon stated that no one at Mavin Records promised him anything initially, but they advised him to come around frequently for musical support from the label until he got signed officially.<\/p>\n
