Amid recent ‘beef’ Dino Melaye shares video of Amaechi alleging that FFK squandered 2bn for Rivers runway

The mudslinging between Official Spokesperson of PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, and former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode continued on Tuesday as the former accused the APC chieftain of misappropriating N2 billion collected from the government of Rivers State.

The accusation is part of ongoing online confrontation between the politicians, who are supporting different candidates for the 2023 presidential election.

While Melaye is supporting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Fani-Kayode has pitched his tent with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the APC.

The confrontation started when Fani-Kayode reacted to Dino Melaye’s interview where he narrated how the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, national Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu was elected.

Dino, while commenting on calls for Ayu’s resignation, said, “All the PDP Governors spent money at our party’s National Convention to get Senator Iyorcha Ayu elected as National Chairman”.

FFK, however, described Dino’s assertion as open confession, stressing that the said process of bringing Ayu as the party’s chairman was a criminal offence.

But Dino, who was angered by Fani-Kayode’s observation, lambasted the former minister, describing him as a drug addict.

This, however, did not go well as the former Minister took to his social media handles to rain insults on Dino, accusing him of being a coward.

In response, Melaye shared a video of former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi accusing Fani-Kayode of stealing the sum of N2bn meant for Aircraft repairs while in office, on a television programme in 2018.

Amaechi said that his predecessor, Dr. Peter Odili’s government gave N2 billion to Fani-Kayode, who was then Minister of Aviation, to fix a deplorable portion of the runway of the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Amaechi, who was Minister of Transport at the time, said that Fani-Kayode “went away” with the money.

Fani-Kayode has since denied the allegation, noting that the airport was rebuilt and fully paid for by him when he was Minister of Aviation.

But reposting the video on Twitter on Tuesday, Melaye insisted that the ex-minister got the money from the state government and “used it on drugs”.
