A video circulating on social media shows an Anglican Bishop, Rt. Rev. Onyeka Onyia of the Nike Diocese in Enugu State, kneeling during a church service for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the state, Peter Mbah.

According to reports, the incident occurred during a thanksgiving service for Venerable Prof. Chinedu Nebo, former minister of power and steel.

In the video, the PDP candidate arrived late for the church service and decided to sit in the back.

The Bishop, on the other hand, approached him and begged him to move to the front row, which the governorship candidate declined.

The clergyman went on his knees in an attempt to persuade him to change his mind. Mbah, who appeared perplexed by the gesture, also went on his knees in response.

One of the priests, who appeared to be the Bishop’s chaplain, and another congregant were seen pulling the Bishop up.

According to reports from Nigeria, the development has not gone down well with many Anglican faithful.

They are currently expressing their outrage, with many describing the Bishop’s actions as a total debasement of the office of a Bishop.
