Tinubu’s Victory: Adamu Garba Reacts To Supreme Court Judgement On Old Naira Notes

Adamu Garba

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Adamu Garba has mocked Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as the court overturns the ban on old Naira notes.

This comes after Atiku and Peter Obi sought a court order to inspect election materials and promised to challenge President-elect Bola Tinubu’s victory.

WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that the Supreme Court also declared the Federal Government’s naira redesign policy unconstitutional, calling it an affront to the 1999 Constitution.

Justice Emmanuel Agim, who read the lead judgment on Friday, ruled that the defendants’ preliminary objections (the Attorney General of the Federation, the states of Bayelsa and Edo) are overruled because the court has jurisdiction to hear the case.

The court held that the dispute between the federal government and the states must involve law or facts, citing Section 23(2)1 of the constitution.

The Supreme Court also ruled that President Muhammadu Buhari admitted in his broadcast that the policy is flawed and fraught with difficulties.

According to the court, the policy has led to some people engaging in barter trade in this modern age in order to survive. The court also stated that the President’s defiance of the February 8 order is evidence of dictatorship.

In a tweet, Adamu Garba stated that given the Supreme Court’s decision on the Naira policy, Tinubu’s presidency is a whole lot of good news.

He believes that Peter Obi and Atiku’s decision to go to court will be a futile effort, similar to the case of the old Naira notes.

He said:

And so, the Supreme Court rules: the old naira notes remains till December 31st 2023. Tinubu Presidency is a whole bunch of GOOD NEWS guys! Eventually, it is the economic genius President Tinubu that will implement the policy. Now, our country can move on an accelerated pace!

Same Supreme Court Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi headed for their imaginary yet crisscrossed election victory. When God put someone on a downward pedestal, he inculcates into same person grandstanding amidst clear defeat. We’ll welcome them at the arrival gates of the courts.
