Police Reacts As Fresh Details About Anti-Tinubu Ibom Air Passenger Emerges

anti-Tinubu passenger

The Nigeria Police Force, Airport Command, has confirmed that an anti-Tinubu passenger arrested last week Friday on an Abuja-Lagos flight will be arraigned in court on Monday.

On Saturday evening, the Investigating Police Officer, Benson Okoh, told journalists that the citizen, Obiajulu Uja, would be charged with criminal intimidation and public disturbance when he appeared in court on Monday, April 3rd, 2023.

He’s with us, I was trying to confirm with the PPRO. However, he’ll be charged to court on Monday for criminal intimidation and inciting public disturbance, The PUNCH quoted Okoh.

WITHIN NIGERIA understands that the police confirmation of the next action came following fresh details given by the accused’s lawyer.

Uja Is Mentally Unstable

Earlier this week, the suspect’s lawyer, Barrister Ejike Ugwu, told journalists that Uja is mentally challenged.

He explained that his client was not in the right frame of mind before boarding the flight and that he was chased out of an Abuja hotel due to his mental state.

Ugwu, who was at the Airport Police Division to see the suspect, stated that despite the suspect’s dire circumstances, the police had yet to provide him with medical care. The lawyer also stated that the suspect’s legs are swollen as a result of the multiple beatings at the airport and that he has been unable to contact the Police Public Relations officer.

He said:

Obiajulu is not in the right state of mind; before he boarded the flight, he was chased away from a hotel in Abuja because of his mental state.

He even booked three different flights for the Lagos trip. He booked Aero, Dana, and Ibom Air. He had three tickets for the same trip. So, there is no doubt that he is mentally challenged.

As I speak to you, both the IPO handling the case and the DPO of the Police Division are nowhere to be found. And the suspect’s legs are all swollen now because of the several beatings he received at the Airport. He is critically sick right now.

All I am asking for is that he should at least be taken to the police clinic.

I have also made efforts to reach the Force PRO but he did not take my calls
