Upon arrival, he discovered Benita motionless, with an empty bottle of a suspected toxic substance—popularly known as “Sniper”—lying beside her .
Law enforcement authorities were swiftly alerted. Officers from the Ogun State Police Command arrived at the scene and began documenting the situation, including photographing the site.
Thereafter, her body was evacuated and deposited at Real Divine Hospital morgue in readiness for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of her death .
The woman’s identity, Benita Lurk Ikuenobe, was confirmed by police and church staff; she was not a member of the congregation, and her motive for being at the auditorium remains unclear . Investigators have launched a full inquiry to determine the precise circumstances leading to the possible suicide.
MFM church management is said to be cooperating fully with the police investigation, while security has reportedly been tightened across the premises.
No formal statement has yet been issued by church leadership, but internal sources indicate the church is deeply disturbed and is reviewing its protocols.
