Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has chastised President Muhammadu Buhari over the redesigned naira notes that were released on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He also slammed the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, calling both men crooks.<\/p>\n
Sowore observed that there was no significant change in the naira, implying that Nigerians had been duped once more.<\/p>\n
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that President Buhari unveiled the redesigned N200, N500, and N1000 notes at the start of the Federal Executive Council’s weekly meeting.<\/p>\n
While unveiling the redesigned N1,000, N500, and N200 notes, Buhari was flanked by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele and some cabinet members.<\/p>\n
The new Naira notes will become legal tender on December 15, while the old ones will no longer be legal tender on February 1, 2023.<\/p>\n
Nigeria will redesign some of its currency notes for the first time in 19 years.<\/p>\n
Sowore, who took to Twitter to share images of the new notes, expressed disappointment at the development.<\/p>\n
