Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has come under fire on social media for allegedly being ‘cold’ about the upcoming 2023 presidential election.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the revered preacher previously stated that God has yet to speak to him about Nigeria’s upcoming presidential election in 2023.<\/p>\n

Adeboye<\/a> said in a sermon on Saturday, January 7, at the Redemption City, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, during the RCCG monthly Holy Ghost Service titled “Wonderful,” that if God does not reveal anything to him about the election, the congregation should be ready to vote as guided by their spirit.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the importance of getting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) ready to be used to exercise their civic rights in the presidential election on February 25, regardless of whether God speaks to him about it or not.<\/p>\n

What’s the deal with the RCCG trending on Twitter?<\/h3>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA, RCCG began trending on the microblogging platform on Thursday after a netizen claimed that members of the church lost interest in politics after Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a pastor of the church, lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the party’s primaries months ago.<\/p>\n

After Osinbajo’s defeat to Tinubu, the netizen [@kingroyce01] claimed that his RCCG friends have become jaded about the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

The tweet reads:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Because Osinbajo lost APC primaries, my RCCG friends lost interest in Politics. Y\u2019all think youre ready for a new Nigeria but you\u2019re not, you just want your guy in power.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The tweet has since generated a barrage of reactions on social media, as netizens speak for and against the submission of the Twitter user.<\/p>\n

Hailing the person of Osinbajo despite his loss, @dharmyadams \u2013 wrote:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cThis a valid feeling, that man was the best option for Apc as a flag bearer.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a sad tale of true democracy, seeing who became the flag bearer and also the quality of speech from each candidate.\u00a0<\/em>Osinbajo definitely outstood his peers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
