Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode described his ordeal at the hands of Department of State Services (DSS)<\/a> operatives on Monday.<\/p>\n

Former Minister and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said he was interrogated for five hours and would not go back there if he could.<\/p>\n

Despite his claims that the operatives were professional and did not torture him, the experience was unpleasant.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Fani-Kayode was summoned to the DSS office in Abuja and interrogated about his claims of a possible coup plot involving some military generals and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.<\/p>\n

After hours of grueling questioning by the secret police, he was released on bail.<\/p>\n

In a press conference following his release, Fani-Kayode revealed that he had been asked to return on Wednesday for further questioning because he had not been discharged.<\/p>\n

According to him, DSS detention is not a desirable place to be.<\/p>\n

He said;<\/strong><\/p>\n

I spent about five hours. I was subjected to thorough grilling; they were very thorough and highly professional in their interrogation. And I was asked to go back on Wednesday for further interrogation.<\/em><\/p>\n

The place anybody wouldn\u2019t want to go, I think is the DSS. If I were to do it a second time, I won\u2019t tweet this same way.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We Could Have Challenged Them<\/h3>\n

Bayo Onanuga, Director Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, also spoke at the press conference, saying the party could have challenged the DSS’s action if Fani-Kayode had not been released today.<\/p>\n

He stated that the lawyers were ready to take action, but since the former Minister was not detained beyond today and the operatives were professional, there was no need for them to do so.<\/p>\n

We were worried when we heard that FFK was invited by the DSS.<\/em><\/p>\n

So we contacted our lawyers and our lawyers followed him to the DSS headquarters. If he was detained beyond today, we would have challenged it. We would have taken further steps.
