{"id":15849,"date":"2023-02-27T14:57:18","date_gmt":"2023-02-27T14:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/?p=15849"},"modified":"2023-02-27T15:21:55","modified_gmt":"2023-02-27T15:21:55","slug":"election-i-thought-it-was-a-gunshot-woman-who-returned-to-cast-vote-after-attack-by-thugs-narrates-ordeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/2023\/02\/27\/election-i-thought-it-was-a-gunshot-woman-who-returned-to-cast-vote-after-attack-by-thugs-narrates-ordeal\/","title":{"rendered":"Election: I thought it was a gunshot \u2013 woman who returned to cast vote after attack by thugs narrates ordeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman identified as Bina Jennifer Efidi has narrated her dreadful experience in the hands of thugs who attacked her polling unit in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Jennifer Efidi who is being called a hero of Saturday\u2019s elections for returning to vote despite a brutal attack by the hoodlums opened up in an interview with BBC news pidgin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/2023\/02\/16\/police-reportedly-demand-n100k-to-investigate-the-incident-of-lady-who-was-raped-and-infected-with-hiv\/\">incident<\/a> was said to have occurred at a polling unit in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/2022\/11\/27\/back-to-back-hits-reactions-as-tinubu-makes-another-slip-up-saying-apv-instead-of-pvc-at-rally-video\/\">Surulere<\/a> area of the state. According to Jennifer, voting was going on without any security agent at her polling unit when thugs stormed the location, destroyed election materials and injured voters. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The woman said she was running away with others when she felt a pain on her face, gunshot sounds after, and then assumed she had been shot. She then placed her hand on her face and saw blood running down her hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Jennifer added that people assured her that she wasn\u2019t shot and she went to the hospital to treat herself. On returning from the hospital, she chose to go back to her polling unit to cast her vote because it\u2019s important to her.
