Remi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, has been chastised online for breaking protocol less than 24 hours after her husband, Bola Tinubu, took office.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA\u00a0reports that a photo making the rounds online captured Remi, the President, and vice president, Kashim Shettima during a meeting on economic matters.<\/p>\n

The viral photo is allegedly from Tinubu’s meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele<\/a>, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.<\/p>\n

Although it is unclear whether she attended the meeting, many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their displeasure with the photo.<\/p>\n

Why on earth will the First Lady be briefed on economic matters by the CBN and NNPCL?<\/em><\/p>\n

Emefiele has been a disgrace to the Central bank. He has made a caricature of the institution. The NNPCL has always been a joke, albeit an expensive one.<\/em><\/p>\n

We won\u2019t tolerate the gross disregard of national institutions again. This nonsense must stop. The First Lady is a ceremonial title, not an elected office that should be briefed on matters of the economy\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
