Hauwa Indimi-Yar’adua, the daughter of billionaire oil magnate Mohammed Indimi<\/a>, has lamented the country’s rising food prices.<\/p>\n

Taking to her verified Instagram account; the cosmetologist posted a photo of a small basket of tomatoes she said she bought for N8,000 in Abuja, adding that she is “still not over it yet.”<\/p>\n

In her Instagram stories, she inscribed the picture of the basket of tomatoes with the words;<\/strong><\/p>\n

I sent my people to the market and as of Monday, this is N8k tomatoes. Still not over it, she wrote on Monday, July 3.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, some housewives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have stopped using tomatoes for stew and other sauces due to the rising cost of tomatoes.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, some residents revealed that they have resorted to making stew with garden eggplants and carrots. They claimed that garden eggs, known as ‘ganyen gauta’ in Hausa, ‘igba’ in Yoruba, and ‘anyara’ in Igbo, could blend as well as tomatoes with rice.<\/p>\n

Others stated that they were experimenting with pumpkin, pawpaw, or traditional soups such as white soup and palm fruit soup, also known as banga, instead of tomato stew.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
