{"id":17891,"date":"2023-07-13T16:46:22","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T16:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/?p=17891"},"modified":"2023-07-13T16:46:22","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T16:46:22","slug":"lagos-family-accuse-kfc-of-hoarding-their-daughters-corpse-after-she-died-at-work-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/2023\/07\/13\/lagos-family-accuse-kfc-of-hoarding-their-daughters-corpse-after-she-died-at-work-video\/","title":{"rendered":"LAGOS: Family accuse KFC of hoarding their daughter\u2019s corpse after she died at work &#8211; VIDEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Aggrieved family members have accused KFC (Lagos branch) of hoarding the corpse of their daughter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>She reportedly slumped and died while at work on Friday, July 7.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In the noon hours of Wednesday, 12th of July 2023, aggrieved family members and friends of an employee of a popular eatery, KFC, took to the restaurant to demand the release of the body of their loved one.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased has been identified as Anita Chinwedu and it was gathered that she worked at the restaurant&#8217;s outlet in Festac area of Lagos state.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, \u2063The family got wind of her death 24 hours after she passed and could not get access to her corpse.<\/p>\n<p>While the management of the restaurant is yet to publicly disclose what led to the death of their staff, a family member alleged that they (restaurant) claimed that Chinwedu slumped and died while at work on Friday, July 7.<\/p>\n<p>One of the family of the lady stated that they only got information from KFC that their daughter fainted and died while trying to dry her wet clothes. According to them, KFC has refused to show the family where the corpse of their daughter is.<\/p>\n<p>It was also alleged\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/gist\/2023\/06\/16\/nigerian-police-issues-stern-warning-to-pranksters-playing-costly-jokes-endangering-lives-video\/\">that a policeman<\/a> countered the restaurant&#8217;s account of how Chinwedu died, by allegedly revealing that she was electrocuted.<\/p>\n<p>A family member said;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>She started working at KFC barely two months ago. On Friday last week, she was said to had slumped at about 11 PM.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cKFC claimed she just screamed and fell while trying to hang her washed clothes. According to them, they rushed her to the hospital, but the first hospital rejected her because of deposit, it was the second hospital that they took her to that pronounced her dead on arrival.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;KFC took her body to the morgue without informing her family. And as we speak, they are yet to show the family where they dumped her body. Even the police has refused to tell the family where the body is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;We think they are trying to cover up something. We don&#8217;t think she fell just like that. KFC claimed she just screamed and fell but they didn&#8217;t call her family who lives nearby. They took her to the hospital and still didn&#8217;t inform her people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;She died and they took her body to the mortuary without informing her family. They ran to Festac police to make an entry without informing the family still.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;It was the police that later called the family on Saturday afternoon, telling her mom to come to the station that her daughter had issues at work. Only for the woman to get there and they just reluctantly told her that her daughter was dead.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;She wasn\u2019t sick. In fact, she was very fine and healthy. We think it was electrocution (our assumption) because there was a statement a policeman made to the elder brother. He said and I quote: \u2018oh, na you wey electric shock your sister for Festac.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;She was the only daughter of her family.
