Sudanese security forces have reportedly shot dead three protesters during a protest against the military coup that took place in the country.<\/p>\n

The security forces also fired teargas at the protesters.<\/p>\n

Recall that military forces led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, had, on Monday, arrested some members of Sudan\u2019s transitional government and other civilian leaders.<\/p>\n

The transitional government, made up of both civilian and military representatives, was supposed to oversee a return to full civilian rule, following the ousting of Omar al-Bashir in April 2009.<\/p>\n

Pro-democracy groups had called for protests across the country to demand the release of the detainees and the reinstatement of the deposed transitional government.<\/p>\n

The protesters<\/a>, who converged on Khartoum, the capital, and Omdurman, on Saturday, reportedly marched into the streets, chanting \u201crevolution, revolution\u201d, \u201cGive it up, Burhan\u201d to protest against the coup that is threatening to derail the country\u2019s transition to democracy.<\/p>\n

The protesters called for the removal of the ruling military council and the handover of the government to civilians.<\/p>\n

\n

They also demanded the dissolution of\u00a0 paramilitary groups and restructuring of the military, intelligence and security agencies.<\/p>\n

According to a statement\u00a0issued<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors (CCSD), a third protester died on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cA third civilian passed away today. A 19-year-old male passed away from a chest wound sustained by bullet shot from Transitional Military Council (TMC) militias,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cA large number of civilians are wounded & admitted to Al Arbeen hospital, & other hospitals across Sudan.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
