{"id":102431,"date":"2021-11-04T07:32:38","date_gmt":"2021-11-04T06:32:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=102431"},"modified":"2021-11-04T07:42:18","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T06:42:18","slug":"more-than-1000-residents-arrested-for-violating-executive-order-zamfara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/04\/more-than-1000-residents-arrested-for-violating-executive-order-zamfara\/","title":{"rendered":"More than 1000 residents arrested for violating executive order &#8211; Zamfara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Zamfara state has revealed that more than 1,000 persons have been arrested for violating the executive order in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that governor of Zamfara, Bello Matawalle had earlier signed\u00a0an executive order restricting the sale of fuel in jerrycans, while weekly markets were closed and movement of livestock beyond the state\u2019s borders was suspended.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, weekly markets have now been reopened.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking while parading a suspect on Wednesday, Abubakar Dauran, chairman of the taskforce committee on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/03\/icpc-dss-arrest-48-lecturers-security-officers-others-for-exams-malpractices\/\">security<\/a>, said the suspects were arrested through collaboration with security operatives.<\/p>\n<p>Dauran said 100 other suspects were arrested over their alleged involvment in kidnapping and banditry.<\/p>\n<p>He said a suspect identified as Zayyanu Bingi, aged 42, was arrested for allegedly supplying fuel to bandits.<\/p>\n<p>However, Zayyanu denied the allegation and said he only supplied fuel to members of his community who needed the product.<\/p>\n<p>Dauran added that some suspects are undergoing investigation, while some paid fines.<\/p>\n<p>He also said several persons have been prosecuted and sentenced to prison, and urged residents to support the government\u2019s efforts to restore peace to the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Zamfara state has revealed that more than 1,000 persons have been arrested for violating the executive order in the state.
