Shortly afterwards, the truck exploded burning surrounding shops and cars.<\/p>\n<p>Staff at a hospital near the accident site confirmed on Saturday that rescue workers had brought in 80 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/07\/photos-bodies-of-17-europe-bound-migrants-wash-ashore-in-libya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bodies<\/a> during the night.<\/p>\n<p>The local television station AYV spoke of 400 victims on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>President Julius Maada Bio is expected in Freetown shortly, a government spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>He was attending the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the \u201ctragic accident,\u201d Mr Bio had cancelled a planned trip to a meeting of the West African Economic Community ECOWAS in Ghana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least 99 persons have been killed siphoning fuel from a tanker truck that collided with a lorry on Friday evening in Freetown, Sierra Leone capital.
