{"id":10554,"date":"2021-03-19T13:12:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-19T12:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=10554"},"modified":"2021-03-19T17:04:46","modified_gmt":"2021-03-19T16:04:46","slug":"us-returnee-narrates-how-fulani-herder-who-owns-200-acres-prefers-his-cows-to-graze-on-peoples-farmlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/19\/us-returnee-narrates-how-fulani-herder-who-owns-200-acres-prefers-his-cows-to-graze-on-peoples-farmlands\/","title":{"rendered":"US returnee narrates how a notorious Fulani herder is tormenting Oyo community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A United States Of America returnee, Mrs Olajumoke Awosika, has narrated how herdsmen terrorised farmers and destroyed water from the two main rivers in the Ibaayin village, Elekuru-Olorisaoko axis of the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with The PUNCH, the 57-year-old caterer said a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/26\/grazing-law-benue-govt-releases-210-impounded-cattle-to-fulani-herders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fulani herder<\/a> who owns 200 acres, alongside his battalion, have unleashed unimaginable terror and horror on farmers in the area within the last few months since the beginning of the activism of popular Yoruba rights campaigner, Sunday Adeyemo also known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/09\/go-after-killer-herders-not-local-hunters-or-security-guards-sunday-igboho-admonishes-dss-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunday Igboho<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Awisika, who started organic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/13\/tinubu-to-president-buhari-convene-national-security-meeting-over-farmer-herder-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">farming<\/a> five years ago after she couldn\u2019t get some fresh farm produce in the market for her catering business, lamented the criminal activities of herdsmen in the farming community.<\/p>\n<p>She said, \u201cThe first day they (herders) entered, they destroyed farms. This was on February 10, 2021. As soon as they (herdsmen) entered, they went into people\u2019s farm, harvested their plantains for their cows and uprooted cassava on their farms. Those are farms around me. These are old men, people in their 60s, 70s and the herdsmen destroyed on a massive scale.
