{"id":105591,"date":"2021-11-11T08:33:03","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T07:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=105591"},"modified":"2021-11-11T08:33:03","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T07:33:03","slug":"sokoto-begins-registration-of-motorbikes-tricycles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/11\/sokoto-begins-registration-of-motorbikes-tricycles\/","title":{"rendered":"Sokoto begins registration of motorbikes, tricycles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In its bid to strengthen security measures, the Sokoto State Government has directed all commercial motorcycles and tricycles operating across the state to register their personal information (biodata) within 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>It said failure to comply with the directives may result in the total ban of commercial motorcycles and tricycles operations in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The essence, it said, was aimed at curtailing the high level of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/06\/insecurity-ebubeagu-arrests-15-suspected-criminals-in-ebonyi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insecurity<\/a> in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Special Duties, Muhammad Sa\u2019idu Gumburawa disclosed the development in Sokoto.<\/p>\n<p>Gumburawa explained that the collation of the motorcycle data and verification exercise commenced in October and is expected to end this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exercise became necessary so as to checkmate the operation of the commercial bike in view of the incessant cases of banditry attacks being reported in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exercise would also enable the state government to have authentic record and documentation of commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders working in the state,\u201d Gumburawa said.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that after the exercise, registration numbers would be issued to owners of the motorcycles and tricycles for easy identification in addition to reflective jackets.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, advised the commercial vehicle operators across the state to support the project and desist from any illegal activity that may cause insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, all the motorcycles operating in the state must participate and should be endorsed by their district heads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In its bid to strengthen security measures, the Sokoto State Government has directed all commercial motorcycles and tricycles operating across the state to register their personal information (biodata) within 30 days.
