{"id":106068,"date":"2021-11-12T06:08:52","date_gmt":"2021-11-12T05:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=106068"},"modified":"2021-11-12T06:08:52","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T05:08:52","slug":"efcc-arraigns-hotel-manager-for-alleged-n19m-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/12\/efcc-arraigns-hotel-manager-for-alleged-n19m-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC arraigns hotel manager for alleged N19m fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned one Emmanuel Eromosele Okojie for allegedly stealing N19,503,143.<\/p>\n<p>Okojie allegedly stole the said amount while serving as manager and accountant of Carlaw Guest House and Conference Centre in Delta state.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant faces a nine-count charge bordering on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/09\/police-arrests-burglars-herbalist-for-stealing-food-items-worth-n850000-in-osun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stealing<\/a> before Justice A.O. Akpovi of the Delta State High Court in Warri.<\/p>\n<p>The offence violates section 383(1) of the Criminal Code Law Cap C21, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria and is punishable under the same law.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-106076 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/11\/kunlenet07\/2021\/11\/12\/Emmanuel-Eromosele-Okojie.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"771\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/11\/kunlenet07\/2021\/11\/12\/Emmanuel-Eromosele-Okojie.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/11\/kunlenet07\/2021\/11\/12\/Emmanuel-Eromosele-Okojie-300x289.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/11\/kunlenet07\/2021\/11\/12\/Emmanuel-Eromosele-Okojie-768x740.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the counts said Okojia a.k.a Tony Carl, between January and December 2018 in Warri, converted the said amount belonging to Dr. Caroline Olumage Ajayah.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant pleaded \u201cnot guilty\u201d to the charges preferred against him.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecution counsel, Onyeka Ekweozor prayed the court for a trial date and to remand Okojie in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/11\/pastor-sentenced-to-life-imprisonment-for-raping-minor-in-rivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prison<\/a> custody.<\/p>\n<p>Defence counsel, P. E. Tohoye urged the court to grant his client bail. Justice Akpovi granted him <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/09\/court-admits-man-accused-of-calling-governor-ganduje-and-his-sons-kano-thieves-to-n500-bail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bail<\/a> in the sum of N5 million with two sureties.<\/p>\n<p>One must be a blood relative, as well as a civil servant not below Grade Level 10 and own a landed property within Delta.<\/p>\n<p>Okojie was remanded in the custody of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Warri Police Station pending bail perfection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned one Emmanuel Eromosele Okojie for allegedly stealing N19,503,143.
