The Defence Headquarters has debunked a report making the rounds that soldiers are warned against overthrowing President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s government.<\/p>\n

The Directorate of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement said the viral publication that the \u201cDefence Headquarters<\/a> has denounced a call for the military to take over the reins of power\u201d was riddled with outrageous lies and fabrications, stating that the army does not need any warning of any nature regarding the overthrow the current government.<\/p>\n

The DHQ further reiterated its continuous loyalty to the constitutionally established government of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Nwachukwu mentioned that the Army<\/a> Spokesman in no time made such a statement and does not speak for the Defence Headquarters as claimed by the report.<\/p>\n

Part of the statement read: \u201cHowever, for the sake of clarity and to keep the records straight, we wish to state that at no time did the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu issue any statement on the subject matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s therefore a figment of their imagination, which did not in anyway emanate from Brig Gen Nwachukwu.<\/p>\n

\u201dOfficers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army don\u2019t need to be warned against overthrowing Buhari\u2019s government as their loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces has never been in doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the Nigerian Army which is a reputable national and patriotic institution will continue to be steadfast in defending Nigeria\u2019s constitution and the much cherished democracy<\/a> by providing aid to the civil authority, whenever it is called upon to do so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
