{"id":107365,"date":"2021-11-15T06:26:55","date_gmt":"2021-11-15T05:26:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=107365"},"modified":"2021-11-15T06:26:55","modified_gmt":"2021-11-15T05:26:55","slug":"2022-olujimi-eight-other-women-join-ekiti-governorship-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/15\/2022-olujimi-eight-other-women-join-ekiti-governorship-race\/","title":{"rendered":"2022: Olujimi, eight other women join Ekiti Governorship race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senator Biodun Olujimi, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District in the Senate, on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti indicated her interest to contest the state Governorship election, slated for June 18, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Olujimi who disclosed her decision to newsmen in a telephone conversation in Ado-Ekiti, is contesting under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that Olujimi and eight other women aspirants are among the 17 people who have so far obtained nomination forms and had been screened by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/14\/ihedioha-says-pdp-will-win-imo-nigeria-in-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PDP<\/a> at the National Secretariat in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Olujimi, Mrs Olumide Olubunmi from Ido\/Osi Council Areas of the state, Mrs Arogundade Olutoyin from Ekiti East Local Government, and Princess Adekemi Adewunmi from Efon Local Government Area, Mrs Cecillia Ebiesuwa (Emure council), Mrs Adewumi Adesoye (Ado), Mrs Titilayo Owolabi Akerele (Ikole), Mrs Modupe Asaolu (Ekiti South West) and Mrs Deborah Alo (Ido\/Osi), have indicated an interest in the race.<\/p>\n<p>Olujimi said her decision to join the race was borne out of the desire to salvage the state from the woods through selfless service to the people, irrespective of their social status.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker said she decided to run following calls from stakeholders, including the downtrodden, traditional rulers and eminent sons and daughters of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Senator noted that she possessed the quality and experience required to harness the vast state\u2019s resources for productive and developmental purposes.<\/p>\n<p>She said her political and public sector experiences have prepared her for the plum job.<\/p>\n<p>Olujimi expressed her readiness to turn around the fortunes of the state by revolutionising all the sectors of governance with a focus on the masses.<\/p>\n<p>She promised, \u201cif given the PDP ticket and elected governor, I will reposition Ekiti for economic prosperity by creating the enabling environment for industry to thrive with a better approach to taxation that would reduce dependence on federation allocations.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, education will be one of the major objectives of my aspiration, the sector will be reformed to include not only the building of schools but also the provision of incentives to teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission is to rebuild, to reposition and to regain the state\u2019s glory. We are very committed with passion to make sure that Ekiti occupies its rightful position in the comity of states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd our plan is to explore all the areas of possible economic prosperity and development without exploiting the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod Almighty has blessed Ekiti State with abundant natural and human resources. What we need is the right leadership. And Olujimi is the right person,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>While declaring herself as the best hand for the most coveted seat, Olujimi said that the opposition PDP needs to put its best forward for the poll if it is serious to unseat the ruling APC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, all we need is a candidate with good character, great antecedents and that is popular.
