{"id":107584,"date":"2021-11-15T18:11:14","date_gmt":"2021-11-15T17:11:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=107584"},"modified":"2021-11-15T18:11:14","modified_gmt":"2021-11-15T17:11:14","slug":"why-olaiya-flyover-is-yet-to-be-completed-osun-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/15\/why-olaiya-flyover-is-yet-to-be-completed-osun-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Olaiya Flyover is yet to be completed \u2013 Osun Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Osun Government on Monday gave reasons for the delay in completing the Olaiya Flyover as scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>The state government had promised, in February during the commencement of the flyover that it will be completed in nine months.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Commissioner for Works and Transportation in Osun, Remi Omowaiye said improved aesthetics, expansion of the scope of work and torrential rainfall witnessed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/09\/osun-osogbo-shrine-gets-127000-u-s-grant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osogbo<\/a> coupled with the desire not to compromise standards were responsible for the delay in completion,<\/p>\n<p>He said \u201cBecause of the depth of the retaining wall, the Consultant insisted that it has to be layered. And on each of the layers, we have to carry out a test before we proceed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the beginning too, we lost some weeks because the Consultant insisted that the samples of the reinforcement and even the rock under it must be taken to three different laboratories in different states to satisfy all due diligence before we proceeded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll these were responsible for the reason we won\u2019t be opening up the place this November as earlier promised. We are deeply sorry about that. However, let me assure us that with the level of work so far done, before the end of December, Olaiya Flyover will be up and running. We thank the people for their understanding and cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He, however, assured that with the current stage and pace of work, the project would be delivered before the end of the year, saying it is just a weeks delay.<\/p>\n<p>It appreciated residents and road users for their understanding and cooperation so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Osun Government on Monday gave reasons for the delay in completing the Olaiya Flyover as scheduled.
