Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been ejected early Monday morning from its state secretariat at Sogunle on Adekunle Fajuyi Way Ikeja over unpaid rent by the party.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the Execution Order was carried out by fully armed mobile police officers and court bailiff, and lasted for over two hours, resulting in the property of the leading opposition party being thrown out of the 1- storey building.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the development, party spokesperson, Barrister Taofik Gani, who said he was on his way back to Lagos from Ondo<\/a> State, expressed disappointment in a statement made available to newsmen, saying it was sad that such could happen where there should be due, legal process.<\/p>\n

Gani, who said he had been getting calls from the media and public, showing concerns and in the bid to confirm, about the court eviction, but would be visiting \u201cthe premises and confirm personally as I do not want to rely on any hearsay,\u201d recalled that there were demands for outstanding rent and some payments made with a balance to be paid soonest, to the landlord of the said building.<\/p>\n

He, however, said he was not aware of any court process to evict at all, describing the action as \u201ca \u2018kangaroo\u2019 process aided to embarrass and destabilise the main opposition in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been getting calls from the media and public, showing concerns and in the bid to confirm, about the Court eviction said to have been levied on the premises of the State Secretariat of PDP in Lagos. I am on my way from Akure after a weekend wedding party of my niece.<\/p>\n

\u201cI shall be able to visit the premises and confirm personally as I do not want to rely on any hearsay.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, It is sad that such could happen where there should be due legal process. To the best of my knowledge, I know there were demands for outstanding rent and in fact some payments made with balance to be paid soonest, but not aware of any court process to evict at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis must not be a \u201ckangaroo\u201d process aided to embarrass and distabilise the main opposition in the state,\u201d the PDP spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Gani said with the action carried out on the secretariat, all sensitive documents belonging to the party must have been destroyed or deliberately taken away to \u201cbreak our strategies towards 2023,\u201d describing such as a vendetta, even as he vowed that PDP shall put in all legal efforts to get justice.<\/p>\n
