{"id":108386,"date":"2021-11-17T12:05:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T11:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=108386"},"modified":"2021-11-17T12:05:16","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T11:05:16","slug":"five-persons-burnt-to-death-as-petrol-tanker-explodes-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/17\/five-persons-burnt-to-death-as-petrol-tanker-explodes-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway\/","title":{"rendered":"Five persons burnt to death as petrol tanker explodes on Lagos-Ibadan expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than five persons have been confirmed dead after a petrol-laden tanker exploded on Wednesday along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/01\/photos-two-persons-burnt-to-death-vehicles-shops-razed-as-petrol-tanker-explode-in-niger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tanker<\/a> exploded in the early hours of Wednesday, around Tunji Alegi Filling Station, Kwakyama Area of Ogere in Ogun State.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/31\/fire-outbreak-kills-two-siblings-in-jigawa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fire outbreak<\/a>, said \u201cthe spill has affected some other vehicles parked at the hard shoulder of the road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson of the FRSC in Ogun, Florence Okpe, said, \u201cA total of five persons were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/15\/seven-burnt-to-death-in-lagos-ibadan-expressway-auto-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">burnt<\/a> beyond recognition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were recovered from one of the crashed trucks and have been deposited at FOS Morgue Ipara.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Okpe added that traffic had been diverted to avoid secondary crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMotorists are advised to remain calm and cooperate with traffic managers,\u201d she pleaded.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that rescue operations by fire fighters and police operatives from Gateway Police Station are still ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than five persons have been confirmed dead after a petrol-laden tanker exploded on Wednesday along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
