{"id":109499,"date":"2021-11-19T17:13:24","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T16:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=109499"},"modified":"2021-11-19T17:13:24","modified_gmt":"2021-11-19T16:13:24","slug":"ortom-commends-fg-over-n18bn-loan-to-state-govts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/19\/ortom-commends-fg-over-n18bn-loan-to-state-govts\/","title":{"rendered":"Ortom commends FG over N18bn loan to state govts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue has commended the Federal Government for the release of N18 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria in support of state governments.<\/p>\n<p>Ortom made the commendation on Friday during an interaction with Journalists at the Benue Peoples Government House, Makurdi.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/18\/gov-ortom-reacts-as-gunmen-reportedly-massacre-43-persons-in-sokoto-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">governor<\/a>, who clarified that the money was not a grant but a loan, said it would assist most states in tackling some fundamental challenges of development.<\/p>\n<p>Ortom said the Benue Executive Council (EXCO) would soon meet to prioritise the utilisation of the funds.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that for a state that had been running a deficit budget, the money would support in critical areas like payment of salary arrears and to tackle infrastructure deficit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d We will ensure that the utilisation of the money has a direct impact on the lives of our people,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n<p>Ortom regretted the recent killing of a priest and others at Tor Donga village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state and assured that those behind the act would be apprehended.<\/p>\n<p>He said his administration would continue to collaborate with security agencies in the state to protect lives and property of all citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue has commended the Federal Government for the release of N18 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria in support of state governments.
