{"id":109814,"date":"2021-11-20T09:18:19","date_gmt":"2021-11-20T08:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=109814"},"modified":"2021-11-20T09:18:57","modified_gmt":"2021-11-20T08:18:57","slug":"matawalle-re-opens-zamfaras-livestock-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/20\/matawalle-re-opens-zamfaras-livestock-markets\/","title":{"rendered":"Matawalle re-opens Zamfara\u2019s livestock markets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle, on Friday announced the re-opening of selected markets that were shut earlier as part of measures to address insecurity in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Matawalle made the announcement at the swearing-in of 21 appointees in Gusau.<\/p>\n<p>The appointees are two new commissioners, 10 Special Advisers, eight Permanent Secretaries, and a new Auditor-General of the state.<\/p>\n<p>He listed the markets as the livestock markets in Gummi, Bagega, Danjibga, Kasuwar Daji, Tsafe, Talata-Mafara and Nasarawar Godel.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said the decision to re-open the markets was informed by the improvement in the security situation in the state in the last month.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the state government was also concerned with the hardship the total closure had inflicted on the state\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Matawalle, however, warned citizens against taking laws into their hands under whatever guise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody is allowed to take the laws into his or her hands even in an obvious breach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernment will no longer take it kindly with any person or group killing people wantonly in market places as it obtained in the past. \u201cAnybody caught breaking this rule will face the appropriate wrath of the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI call on vigilance groups and concerned individuals to follow the rule of law and due process in addressing any issue that might arise in such situations,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/05\/matawalle-reveals-how-politicians-sabotaged-amnesty-programme-for-bandits-in-zamfara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matawalle<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>The governor appealed to traditional rulers and community leaders to ensure that the new measure was monitored to succeed \u201cso that more relaxation of the stringent measures can follow in due course\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He charged the new appointees to contribute to the full restoration of law and order in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the newly-appointed officials were made to swear by the Holy Quran that they would not associate with bandits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle, on Friday announced the re-opening of selected markets that were shut earlier as part of measures to address insecurity in the state.
