President Muhammadu Buhari will on November 30 declare open the third National Summit on \u2018Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector,\u2019 being organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.<\/p>\n

The event with the theme, \u2018Corruption and Cost of Governance: New Imperatives for Fiscal Transparency\u2019 would hold at the State House Conference Centre (Old Banquet Hall), Presidential Villa, Abuja, and virtually on the Cisco Webex app.<\/p>\n

The programme will also be streamed live on Facebook @ICPCNIGERIA.<\/p>\n

A statement on Sunday by the ICPC<\/a> spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, titled, \u2018President Buhari to open ICPC\u2019s National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in Public Sector,\u2019 said the President would also recognise and confer on two public servants the \u20182021 Public Service Integrity Award\u2019 for distinguishing themselves with exceptional acts of integrity, while a private citizen would also be recognized as the \u2018Citizen\u2019s Anti-Corruption Volunteer Group Icon.\u2019<\/p>\n

It stated, \u201cHigh profile personalities expected to give goodwill address at the event focusing on diminishing corruption in the public sector are the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad; and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Dr (Mrs) Zainab Ahmed, will deliver the keynote address on the theme: \u2018Corruption and Cost of Governance; New Imperatives for Fiscal Transparency.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Six panellists have been scheduled to discuss topical anti-corruption matters at the technical session and they include the Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Ben Akabueze, who will speak on \u2018Corruption and Cost of Governance in Recruitment\u2019; Executive Secretary of the Presidential Action Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Sadiq Radda, who will speak on \u2018Corruption and Cost of Governance in Security Spending,\u2019 and the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who would deliver a lecture on \u2018Corruption and Cost of Governance in the Education Sector.\u2019<\/p>\n

Other discussants in the technical session are the Director-General of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Mr Asishana Okauru; Country Director of Action Aid, Dr Ene Obi, and Mr Hafiz Mohammed of the ICPC.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the ICPC Chairman, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, was bestowed with the 2021 Presidential Award of Excellence of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.<\/p>\n
