{"id":110723,"date":"2021-11-22T18:03:46","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T17:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=110723"},"modified":"2021-11-22T18:03:46","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T17:03:46","slug":"ncdc-records-148-suspected-chloera-cases-in-one-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/22\/ncdc-records-148-suspected-chloera-cases-in-one-week\/","title":{"rendered":"NCDC records 148 suspected chloera cases in one week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 148 suspected cases were recorded in 6 states within one week.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by the agency in its<span class=\"s1\"> epidemiological report for November 8 to November 14.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the agency,<span class=\"s1\">\u00a0two deaths were recorded, with Adamawa and Gombe accounting for 85 percent of the total number of suspected cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">With suspected cases now reported in 32 states and the federal capital territory (FCT), a total of 3,519 deaths have also been recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">According to the report, the total number of suspected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/10\/ncdc-records-1786-suspected-cholera-cases-in-7-days\/\">cholera<\/a> cases is now 102,684.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThirty-two states and FCT have reported suspected cholera cases in 2021. These areAbia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, CrossRiver, Delta, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Enugu, FCT, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, Rivers and Zamfara,\u201d the report reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn the reporting week, 6 states reported 148 suspected cases-Adamawa(95), Gombe(30), Zamfara(12), Taraba(8) and Lagos(3).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThere was 62% decrease in the number of new suspected cases in week 45 (148) compared with week 44(392). Adamawa(95) and Gombe(30) account for 85% of 148 suspected cases reported in week 45.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cDuring the reporting week, 16 Cholera Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT) were conducted. RDT conducted were from Adamawa(15) and Taraba(1). Of this, a total of 15(94%) were positive by\u00a0<\/span>RDT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cA total of 4 stool cultures were done in Zamfara(2) and Adamawa(2). All(100%) were positive.
