{"id":111449,"date":"2021-11-24T07:42:23","date_gmt":"2021-11-24T06:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=111449"},"modified":"2021-11-24T07:46:44","modified_gmt":"2021-11-24T06:46:44","slug":"fcta-demolishes-100-illegal-structures-obstructing-road-construction-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/24\/fcta-demolishes-100-illegal-structures-obstructing-road-construction-project\/","title":{"rendered":"FCTA demolishes 100 illegal structures obstructing road construction project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 100 illegal structures obstructing road construction leading to Kukwaba II Train station in Karon-Majigi community have been demolished by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).<\/p>\n<p>This was made known on Tuesday by Senior Special Assistant (Designate) to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Mr Ikharo Attah who led the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Attah\u00a0reiterated the commitment of the administration towards infrastructural development.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that every illegal structures standing on the way of any project would be demolished without compensation.<\/p>\n<p>Attah, who expressed sadness over the loss being incurred by victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/18\/zamfara-pdp-drags-state-govt-to-court-over-planned-demolition-of-secretariat\/\">demolition<\/a>, said government would remain focused to citizen-oriented service delivery in all facets.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the Kukwaba train station had been completed and ready for use, but the occupants of illegal structures had refused to vacate the area, thereby slowing the road construction project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in Karon-Majigi to remove all illegal structures that are obstructing the road project to Kukwaba train station. We have to clear the houses wrongly built on the road corridors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is against the warnings that we have always given via the media that you cannot buy land from the local Chiefs and build without approval.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello was very clear when he addressed journalists at the Presidential Villa that all those who illegally buy land and built houses on road corridors will not be compensated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Mr Hope Thompson, Assistant Director, FCT Department of Development Control, confirmed that all indigenous people whose houses were affected had been adequately compensated before the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>He said that non- indigenes, who defied urban and regional rules to build without building approval, would not be compensated by the administration.
