The project will enable both the protection of the country from illegal and piracy activities and the protection of the country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/17\/osinbajo-explains-how-mining-sector-can-improve-revenue-generation\/\">natural resources<\/a> and assets.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Wednesday by minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi while<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0briefing state house correspondents after the FEC meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The meeting was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In June, Buhari flagged off the project \u2014 a collaboration between the transport ministry and the ministry of defence.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Amaechi said he presented a memo to the cabinet to approve the award of the contract.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He said that the contract was for the provision of training logistics, operational equipment, and maintenance support for the government under the Integrated National Surveillance and Waterways Protection Solution Infrastructure in Nigeria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThis is also what we call the Deep Blue Project. That\u2019s the project that the president launched some months ago, around May or June,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe contract was awarded at N6,347,967,644.21, inclusive of 7.5% VAT for a period of two years.
