{"id":112154,"date":"2021-11-25T18:27:23","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T17:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=112154"},"modified":"2021-11-25T18:36:09","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T17:36:09","slug":"frsc-reveals-why-we-have-not-commenced-night-patrols","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/25\/frsc-reveals-why-we-have-not-commenced-night-patrols\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC reveals why it has not commenced night patrols"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disclosed that its personnel would require specialised training on firearms handling ahead of its commencement of night highway patrols.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Thursday by Kingsley Agomoh,\u00a0Assistant Corps Marshal, Corps Project Implementation Office in Abuja while answering questions at a seminar organized by the Bureau of Public Reforms.<\/p>\n<p>He said that although the Commission had been given the licence to carry arms, it would only do so after the specialised training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is one of the reasons we have not started work at night\u201c, Agomoh said while answering questions on traffic management at night.<\/p>\n<p>He however assured that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/11\/07\/frsc-vehicle-loses-control-kills-two-injures-five-in-bauchi\/\">FRSC<\/a> has upgraded its devices and facilities to handle traffic emergencies and save lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not just concerned about making arrests of drivers not using\u00a0seatbelts, making calls while driving, speeding and other traffic infractions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FRCS watches out for all measures to prevent road traffic accidents,\u201c the Assistant Corps Marshal said.<\/p>\n<p>He however said it was impossible for personnel of the commission to be on every road, and appealed to Nigerians to also contribute in ensuring safer roads at all times.<\/p>\n<p>The public should report issues as they occur to help reduce fatalities, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Agomoh said the FRSC has one of the best ambulance services in the country stationed on major highways to offer medical assistance to road crash victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor each ambulance,15 calls can be received\u00a0 simultaneously, it has a generator, fire extinguisher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has a central monitor, paramedics and radiographer for immediate request; feedbacks and other essential devices to arrest emergencies.
