{"id":114797,"date":"2021-12-01T13:40:33","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T12:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=114797"},"modified":"2021-12-01T13:45:04","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T12:45:04","slug":"police-dismisses-gani-adams-claim-of-bandits-relocation-to-kwara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/01\/police-dismisses-gani-adams-claim-of-bandits-relocation-to-kwara\/","title":{"rendered":"Police dismisses Gani Adams&#8217; claim of bandits relocation to Kwara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kwara state police command has disclosed that there is no relocation of bandits or kidnappers to the state as claimed by Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba Land, Chief Gani Adams.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known on Wednesday by the police spokesperson, SP Okasanmi Ajayi via a statement in Ilorin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a response to the anxiety and concern raised by the people of the state, as an aftermath of the alarming statement credited to one Chief Gani Adams sometimes last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the effect that kidnappers and bandits have finally relocated to Kwara, where specific mention of Kwara South was made.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state has succeeded in rescuing kidnapped victims and has arrested many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/12\/01\/nscdc-hunters-arrest-six-suspected-kidnappers-in-kogi\/\">kidnappers<\/a> in the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the command will not relent in doing all that is necessary to sustain the peace and tranquility in the state including, coopting the Fulani people and other ethnic groups in the vigilante service to enhance the security of our bushes,\u201d Ajayi said.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cFollowing the concerns raised by Adams, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Tuesday Assayomo, has embarked on a tour of Kwara South to have first hand information about the security situation in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter going round the zone, the Commissioner, held meetings with security community both in Offa and Omu-Aran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere the people comprising traditional rulers, religious leaders, vigilante, local hunters and sister security agencies were in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people were advised to join hands with the police and other security agencies in ensuring that the existing peace and harmony in the state is sustained.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201d The CP reiterated his determination to deal with criminals irrespective of names or groups they belong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile also accepting to work with any individual or group of people who are interested in collaborating with the police to fight crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CP expressed his displeasure over Adams\u2019 statement which rather than encourage the people was seen to have heightened the anxiety of the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are better ways and channels by which sensitive information could be passed to relevant authorities if there was need for such.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that the state was an integral part of Nigeria and as such, not completely immune from the security challenges bedeviling the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d The fact remains that Kwara is one of the most peaceful states in the country, where efforts by the people and the support by the government and other stakeholders has helped tremendously in sustaining and maintaining the fragile peace in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people are therefore advised to go about their lawful businesses and make information available to the police at all times as part of their civic responsibility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>(NAN)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kwara state police command has disclosed that there is no relocation of bandits or kidnappers to the state as claimed by Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba Land, Chief Gani Adams.
